Prospector

Prospector finds and enriches the people you want to sell to. You give it company domains; it finds the decision makers at each one, with an email address and a confidence score. It then builds fuller profiles for the contacts you queue and writes what it learns back to HubSpot.

You work with Prospector in the app, on the Prospecting page. It has no Slack channel and no commands, and it posts nothing to Slack.

What It Does

Discovery. You upload a list of domains or paste them in. For each domain, Prospector searches for people, looks for their email addresses, reads the company website, guesses likely email patterns, and validates the addresses it finds. Each contact it keeps has a confidence score and a flag for whether the title looks like a decision maker. Contacts at or above 70 percent confidence are handed to enrichment automatically.

Enrichment. Prospector re-researches a contact from the web, the company website, and LinkedIn, and builds a fuller profile. Contacts reach this queue from HubSpot lists, from the Contacts page, and from discovery. The results are written to HubSpot.

HubSpot writeback. Prospector writes properties, notes, and timeline events to HubSpot as it works. These writes go through the platform's governed writeback path, so each one is recorded.

Prospecting eligibilityWhere your administrator has set up HubSpot prospecting enrollment for your portal, a HubSpot property marks the contacts that qualify

What Requires Your Attention

Prospector does not send email, place calls, or post to Slack. It does write to HubSpot on its own, with no approval step. If your administrator has set up HubSpot prospecting enrollment for your portal, Prospector also sets a property that marks a contact as ready for prospecting inside HubSpot, using the ideal-customer grade, lead quality, disqualifiers and weekly limit set for your portal. Without that setup, no such property is written. What HubSpot does once a contact is marked is configured in HubSpot, outside this platform.

Limits on how much Prospector may spend on each data source each month are enforced automatically. They are set by your administrator, not in the Operator Console.

Meeting Briefs

The Prospecting page has an Upcoming Meeting Briefs list. Meeting briefs are switched off in the standard setup, so the list is normally empty. For meeting prep, use Meeting Assistant.
