Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Tell Prospector What to Research?

You give it company website domains on the Prospecting page. Upload a spreadsheet with one domain per row, or paste a list of domains into the box, then click Upload Domains. Prospector does the rest. There are no chat commands and nothing to type to it.

What Does the Confidence Level Mean?

Every contact and every email carries a confidence level of high, medium, or low. It tells you how sure Prospector is about that information. A high-confidence, verified email was confirmed through email verification. A guessed email was inferred from the company's pattern and is labeled as guessed. Use the labels to decide who to act on first: confirm anything guessed or low-confidence before you rely on it.

Will a Guessed Email Ever Be Shown as Verified?

No. A guessed email is always marked as guessed and is never presented as verified. You can always tell the difference at a glance.

Does Prospector Send Outreach or Create Deals?

No. Prospector's output is advisory. It researches contacts, keeps your CRM current, and writes meeting briefs, but it does not send emails, create deals, or take any sales action. You decide what to do with what it finds.

Why Doesn't Prospector Message Me in Slack?

By design. Prospector is a quiet background researcher. Everything it produces is pulled from the Prospecting page when you want it, not pushed to you. Make checking that page part of your routine and you will not miss anything.

Does It Keep My CRM Up to Date On Its Own?

Yes, for the prospects it tracks. Prospector re-checks public sources on a cadence, flags what is genuinely new, and updates the matching record in your CRM. Each change is logged there for an audit trail, so you can see what was updated and when.

Do I Have to Ask for a Meeting Brief?

No. Briefs appear on their own. When a prospect Prospector tracks has an upcoming external meeting on your calendar, a brief is prepared ahead of time and shows up in the "Upcoming Meeting Briefs" area on the Prospecting page.

Why Did Prospector Stop Partway Through My List?

Prospector works within set monthly limits on paid lookups. When a limit is reached, it stops cleanly rather than overspending. Work still in the queue is not lost; it resumes when the next budget window opens. Raising a limit is a change that affects cost, so it waits for human approval.

Common Issues

A Company Shows "Failed" in the Queue

  1. Check the domain you uploaded for typos. A domain that does not resolve cannot be researched.
  2. Confirm the company actually has a public website at that domain. Some smaller firms have little public presence for Prospector to draw on.
  3. The rest of your list is unaffected by one failure. Re-upload just the corrected domain if the original had a mistake.

A Company Is Done But Found No Contacts

  1. A contact count of zero usually means the company has little publicly available information about its people. This is more common with very small or very private firms.
  2. Check whether you uploaded a domain with no decision-makers in the roles Prospector looks for (owners, founders, and senior marketing, revenue, and operations roles).
  3. Treat a zero result as a real answer, not an error. Some companies simply do not have discoverable decision-maker contacts.

Contacts Are Taking a While to Appear

  1. Prospector paces itself through your list a few companies at a time, so a long list does not complete all at once. Watch the Domain Queue: companies move from Pending to Processing to Done in turn.
  2. You do not need to keep the page open. Close it and come back; the results will be waiting.
  3. If a company has sat in Processing for an unusually long time and others have moved on, refresh the page. If it still does not progress, contact support@agenteous.com.

An Email Looks Wrong or Bounced

  1. Check the label on the email. A guessed email was inferred from the company's pattern and is not a confirmed address; confirm it before relying on it.
  2. Prefer the verified, high-confidence contacts for first outreach. The confidence labels are there to steer you toward the most reliable addresses.
  3. If a verified email bounced, the person may have left the company. Prospector re-checks tracked prospects over time and will update the record as it finds changes.

I Expected a Meeting Brief and Don't See One

  1. Confirm the meeting is an external one with a prospect Prospector is tracking. Internal meetings and meetings with people it does not track do not get briefs.
  2. Check that the meeting is on your connected calendar. Prospector prepares briefs from your upcoming calendar, so the meeting needs to be there for it to see it.
  3. Briefs are prepared ahead of the meeting, not at the last second. If the meeting was just added, give it a little time and check the "Upcoming Meeting Briefs" area again. If it still does not appear, contact support@agenteous.com.
